Are you referring to: Joseph Smith Fought Polygamy by Richard and Pamela Price? If so, I was not aware you were of the RLDS way of thought. Their articles reflect a sure bias to justify their belief. I have great respect for their faith but factual history has disproved the first basis for the establishment of the RLDS church in 1860. (Joseph Smith III’s attempt to establish Mormonism without Polygamy) I live in Iowa with many former RLDS members and I see how half-lie/half truth hurt.

  2. ElderJoseph Says:

matthew Warren Jeffs keeps coming up because he is showing us the reality of what Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and other early LDS leaders did. He gets his Authority from The D&C and his testimony, exactly the same as you do. His Mormon church have a testimony that yours is apostate from the teachings of Joseph Smith. And I afirm to you that Old Testament Prophets and their offspring were sinners, don’t use their sins of Polygamy to justify Joseph Smiths abuse.

  3. matthewkimber Says:

You need to re-read your Old Testament. The bible stories are for us to learn from. The prophets gave good examples and were not “sinners” to the extent you are implying. Of course prophets and other righteous people throughout time were not perfect (minus of course JC). On another note, I really don’t understand why Warren Jeffs keeps coming up. He’s not a member of the LDS church so why would I believe he is validated for practicing polygamy?

  4. ElderJoseph Says:

I know that early prophets were sinners. The biblical narratives are not there for us to copy how to behave like they did. They are a lesson on how not to behave and that includes the polygamous abuse they were involved with. Lok at the mess it created rather than harmony and Sarah throwing Hagar and her son out. Its been a massive cause of the worlds problems ever since.
Warren Jeffs has just as much validity as you do, you both claim biblical precedence to jsutify abuse against women.

  5. matthewkimber Says:

ElderJoseph - I’m really surprised that you would think “early prophets practiced lots of sin in their lives.” Doesn’t that seem wrong that they would preach righteousness and be hypocrites (to an extreme as indicated by “lots”)? What are some references to their “lots of sins”? And of course I do not believe Warren Jeffs to be called of God in any way. He isn’t a prophet like Abraham, Jacob (Israel), and others of the Old Testament.

  6. ElderJoseph Says:

mathew These early prophets practiced lots of sin in their lives. Are you suggesting that God sanctioned that and that only he would know the reasons for it? We have inherited original Sin according to bible believers, thats why you can’t keep up the standards yourself that God requires. So why use God as an excuse for the Polygamous errors of Abraham and Jacob. Do you believe God called Warren Jeffs also to practice polygamy?

  7. matthewkimber Says:

I’m not really sure why justcary turned this into a debate about polygamy. My response was to the fact that there was a mention of denying history within the LDS church and the reason why LDS authorities want to differentiate themselves from the FLDS.

  8. testskriftene Says:

I see you have uploaded a new vid on polygamy and polyandry… I have it on my tab on my browser to look when I have time, looking forward to it.. Tou have very good views . God bless

  9. Shazoolo Says:

Good points made. I think it is extremely arrogant for the utah based LDS to label all groups that profess polygamy as “fundamentalists” and even “not Mormon.” As was said in this vid., the breakaway groups are at least being true to the original convictions. When you look at the 1890 manifesto it is easy to see that it isn’t really a revelation and was put together quickly due to pressure from the government. They sold out.

    Read Matthew 22, 23-33…..

  11. RedViking1 Says:

I think it’s funny how in our society it’s okay to sleep around and father children (and never see them again), but it’s not okay to commit to a few women and stay with them and help them raise their children, and support them financially? I don’t believe either lifestyle is proper, but I think it’s funny that society frowns upon the latter, but not the former. Why do you think that is?

  12. matthewkimber Says:

And? Abraham and Jacob practiced polygamy along with other men of Old Testament times. Only God would know the reason for the practice of polygamy amongst his chosen either here in the flesh or in the afterlife.

  13. justcary Says:

Matt It doesn’t really matter if LDS practice polygamy in the flesh, the teachings still reveal polygamy in the hereafter.

  14. justcary Says:

    He didn’t ??

  15. MWayneW Says:

I will the facts speak for themselves. Dr. Compton used journal entries, interviews and court affidavits. I read not too long ago that DNA studdies were going to be conducted on those thought to be Joesph’s children by other wives but have not followed up or read anything recently.

  16. osmiolos Says:

“I found it factual and straightforward. ”

    what facts did he have

    (1) DNA
    (2) court decisions

or did he ONLY have stuff from 30-40 years after the death of the Prophet JS?

  17. MALDITTOROKKERO Says:

OSMIOLOS how do you know jo. smith didnt practice polygamy?? you and I werent there!! look at their past!! mormons are known in the whole world for their polygamy! LOL… stop telling us what your leaders nowadays tell you!! im guessing yor leaders are telling you tons of lies!! it’s obvious this is what jo. smith liked to do!! i bet you’re one of those mormons who deny the government forced mormons to stop polygamy.. you say “god” ordered you to stop?? please.. no more jokes!

  18. MWayneW Says:

Sorry to disagree with you summary of Dr. Compton’s book. I found it factual and straightforward. Many of the former RLDS church(Community of Christ) are now finally admitting that Joseph did, in fact, practice polygamy. This a bit of history that is pretty firm: Joseph Smith did proactice polygamy.

  19. osmiolos Says:

“May I recommend a book: In Sacred Loniness by Dr. Todd Compton. ”

May I recommend a book to you.

    **Joseph Fought Polygamy**

unlike Compton it actually has documents and facts instead of pure conjecture and psychoanalysis.

  20. matthewkimber Says:

Who said Joseph didn’t practice polygamy? You may want to check your facts.

  21. matthewkimber Says:

Deny history? No authority in the LDS church is denying any of the church’s history. They practiced polygamy and also denied African Americans the opportunity to hold the priesthood.

The only reason the church is trying to get the press to use different terminology is to help differentiate the LDS and the FLDS. Too many people believe that the LDS church still practices polygamy and it dissuades them from listening to the message.

  23. osmiolos Says:

Joseph Smith did NOT practice polygamy!
